Journalists need reigning in. I'm not talking about censorship of
poltical opinion. I'm talking about invading the privacy of
celebrities
in order to sell papers. Phone hacking, undercover reporters,
kiss and tells, unverified rumours, etc.

Celebrities wouldn't exist if not for the gutter press.

Celebrities all of a sudden want to have their cake and eat it. Fame and
privacy.

To my mind, the best response to that is "tough luck".

I disagree. Just because media help to create celebrities does
not justify bullying them.

It's pretty simple. Journalists shouldn't break the law. When you say they
need reining in because of their phone hacking, all you're saying is you
want the law to be applied. You don't need a new law. You need to use the
existing law.

If you want them reined in further, then put it to parliament.

Sounds like a Labour's shadow culture secretary wants to do
just that. I don't count that as freedom hating.
