Wouldn't it be nice to have all MP's who support the war to be
conscripted in to the forces for six months service,

Or indeed their offspring.

They're free to volunteer.....as did all the troops who are currently there.
None of them were conscripted in...each and every one of them volunteered.

Are you seriously suggesting that because some choose to enlist, others
should be forced to enlist?

Some might argue that those who enlist, do so because of lack of
choice...lack of opportunities in civvie street.
Others might argue that the thicker ones are more likely to sign up....while
better educated think 'fuck that for a game of soldiers.

This might be the case in a very small number of them....but the majority of
those enlisted actually signed up knowing full well what they might be
getting in to.
If labour's 13 years showed us anything at all....it showed us that lack of
education and opportunities was no reason to rush headlong into the
forces.....that lot have been well taken care of over the past 13 years!

Your statements smack of social envy....it's obvious why most parents
(whatever their backgrounds and whatever their views on 'the war') wouldn't
wish their own to be there.
It might be somewhat hypocritical, but it remains a basic human truth.

While ever we have a voluntary recruitment system, you don't really have an
argument.
I could just as easily argue and ask why the hell kids, who perhaps have no
desire to join up, should be forced to because their MP father/mother
supported the war....ARE you seriously suggesting that they should?
