So the BMA want a huge extension to Labour's nanny state do they? They should stick to regulating the doctors, NOT interfering in politics. We already have a grossly overtaxed and over regulated alcohol industry in Britain. We certainly don't want any more of either. My message to the BMA is - don't interfere where you are not wanted.
My former GP had to retire early due to being ill by being an alcoholic. The doctors should get their own house in order.

There must be some mix up here. I remember seeing a bill board on the pavement outside an off-license in Dunster breaking the news that "doctors say drinking wine is good for us" and I've followed that advice ever since. When a few years ago someone told me that a bottle of wine counted as one of my five-a-day fruit and vegetables I felt assured of a long and healthy life.
Could it be that the high level of compliance with the smoking bans has been misinterpreted in some quarters? Has someone misunderstood the fact that the smoking ban succeeded only because a critical mass of smokers consented to go along with it, because if a critical mass of smokers had
dug their heels in it could not have happened.
A ban on alcohol would prove much more entertaining...
