I mean, if they cannot organise a mission to secure
the area, ferry in a new engine and replace it, then
recover the helicopter... we simply cannot afford to
let these generals and politicians play their war
games...
its the similar thing as rescuing a platoon caught in
a bad firefight... need people (enough people) on
standby to go...
I mean they are supposedly wanting to fight the
taliban... heres some just shot down a helicopter...
and these [...] don't go and tackle them...? WTF?
their answer... drop some bombs on it... that will
sort it...
ah... how this country wound up in this state with
this bunch of [...] at the control...
decidedly un-F.A.B. (ians)... international
fuck-you... plunderbirds...
obviously the top-trump stat missing on this page is
the replacement cost...
(well based on the eight new ones still not airworthy
after 13 years at a total cost of £500 million... 62.5
million each... and these were supposed to be 'cheap'
ones FFS)

fishing for snipers :)call it "the brain" and I claim invention... :)might work well as a dummy helmet you stick above your trench
One of the troubles today is that no one in the cabinet
has ever served in the forces. They have never worn the
Queens military uniform and have no particular care for
the army, navy and air force anyway.
Labour’s complete and utter incompetence is clearly
shown in the way our country has been run for the past
twelve years………..So what chance do our lads in
Afghanistan have in receiving the equipment and extra
supplies they require.
If you fight a war you fight it with all your might……If
you cannot the war should not be fought………….Bring our
boys home.
its not a war... its an occupation...
but to me this salvage op seemed straightforward...
1. predator drone to site... make sure no ieds layed. 2.
salvage squad scrambled
3. secure area
4. build little plexiglass scaffold whatever for
mechanics protection 5. if its flyable arrange for parts
6. not flyable strip out whats worthwhile for spares 7.
run away.... evac.
seems actually a chinook can lift a chinook... just want
the harness and fitting time....
mmm... prefab plexiglass + sensor screens to give bullet
trajectory immediate feedback... maybe even range
dependant on force of strike...
well several range options based on usual bullet
mass/cartridge characteristic types....
occasionally and waggle around temptingly :)
dummy head/helmet with two layered at Z distance sensor grids,
and once captured bullet weighed accurate range available.
several other methods... sound of shot time vs strike time
etc.
not even that complex, just 2mm meshes of thin electrical wire,
battery and a few on/off detection chips will give 2 xy
co-ordinates when broke, small dsp/laptop for the rest, t1 and
t2... and known z0 and z1....
engineers should be able to knock a few up, bit of ballistic
gell to separate meshes and centre blob to catch bullet, an
imitation thinner helmet to make sure no deflection...
warm gel up to 37 stick helmet on...
simple prog... database of cartridge types and crono/range stats
:)
I mean I say simple... need to know effect of ballistic material
on speed/ vector and a few tricky bits with countour of helmet...
ie. array 1 struck but not array 2 type hits etc....
Program can just give the read-out
"SHIT WE ARE IN TROUBLE"
if too many hits received :(
could tie in to land warrior... whatever we are working on... our
own £2bn project I hear... all soldiers wear array, gps/compass
knows what direction facing... any soldier hit instant read out of
at least accurate vector... plus rough range/options.
FIST... a suitable acronym they must have worked backwards from...
:)
going to need more than one compass for my addition... :)
ah... and skin tight uniforms that look like they were designed by
one of bruno's previous boyfriends ;)
ah... no... if the sensors in the (starched and extremely pressed ;) )
uniform... might not matter what angle leg/arm pointed at.... :)
bullet hits uniform then leg/arm... must be some rules about that...
:)
vests and helmets easy to put compass/hit detectors in....
and I speak as one somewhat experienced at various fps's :)
handy to know where the shots come from... range would be totally
awesome, as in bf2142 you've got airburst rocket undergun attachment
with range selection....
not beyond current technology... like all by feel with grenade launcher
in bfv... whatever they're called... modern version is revolver... old
one was shotgun style...
like... dead men tell no tales... be nice if they could...
Bluntman is down....
we'll avenge you dude... :)
I mean how awesome to make it dangerous to hit your target?
