It beggars belief that staff at Northern Rock, the first of the failed
nationalized banks, are to receive substantial bonuses.

At a time when the rest of us are severely tightening our belts the
very people that caused the financial crisis are being rewarded from
their disastrous recklessness and incompetence.

It was really important to keep existing staff at a time when people were
jumping ship.

Suppose for the sake of argument the majority of staff knew what they were
doing. They have a collective memory of processes and customers which needed
to be kept in the business. If they'd all buggered off, NR would have been
in an even worse state.
