Classic English behaviour overseas. I just had a scout around to see how
much Hindi or Bengali the British tended to learn in India - not much, it
appears from a superficial search.

I think it's classic behaviour of foreigners everywhere.  I dislike it
when people come here and do it, so it's only reasonable to dislike it
when people here go elsewhere and do the same.

I applaud your consistenvy, if not your misanothropism. I've been
living aborad for a few years now and sling the local lingo with
consumate ease.
