We have still not managed to push the state back across the boundaries it
breached back in 1939!

There is also the question of the cleansing effect of recessions. It assumed
that the weaker sections of the economy are those which tend to go to the
wall with the strongest and fittest prevailing.

There are however, limits to all ideologies.

The 30's slump gave the US the Blue Ridge Mountain Highway and the Hoover
Dam to name just two facilities.

I myself live in a forest still providing amenity value today despite the
fact that it was planted way back during the same event under work creation
schemes.

Perhaps there is a balance that can be struck?
