There's more! About a month later the same courier arrived with the
same computer (we were getting on very friendly terms by now) It still
didn't work but since I had no longer any money invested it sort of
lost interest. Eventually I gave it to a young lad in the village who
was hovering. He rebuilt it with a new motherboard and uses it to this
day. He was delighted with his capture.

The moral of my tale is that you do have rights against PCWorld or
anybody else. More often than not you get these rights and more (what
happens if you simply change your mind in relation to a purchase from
M&S?) automatically. However, if you have a case you do need to be
prepared to assert it. That doesn't give leave to enter shops and
behave badly. There is a modern belief afoot that thowing yourself
about aggressively and using abusive language brings results.

It doesn't! All it does is give the errant shopkeeper excuse to
dismiss you. Reasonableness at all times and even over reasonableness
pays dividends. Being polite yet firm doesn't weaken your case and
I'll tell you something else,

They hate it!

for your amusement only....
i had similar problems with said emporium.....

they tried their usual run around routing....

so, i stood in the store speaking in an unnecessarily
loud voice...repeating over and over my displeasure with them...
they eventually decided they were losing more money that
way than in immediately meeting their responsibilities....

another computer manufacturer delivered a couple of pc not up
to the claimed spec...
again, they argued to christmas-come and back....
eventually i had a record of over 20 phone calls and details listed
and swapped boards which didn't meet spec either.....
when it became clear they'd no intention of meeting their contract....
i pointed out my gathered file to some idiot high in the company.
and told them i would forward it to about 20 computer mags and to
a few of their rivals if the didn't stop their farce....

two replacements were at the door approximately 2 hours later...

both orgs naturally now appear on the blacklist as they have done
for 10 or so years

in france i had a similar event with a phone....eventually they
foolishly agreed to repair it rather than replace it....foolish
because the design was incapable of doing what it said on
the box....
the process would cost them more than the phone was worth....
so i let them 'repair' it...which took several weeks...

then collected the phone....took out a hammer....and ritually
destroyed it in their presence...

there is more than one way to skin a cat!

regards..
