Which can be used to power your calculator and keep your water hot in the summer. Solar panels are not the solution.

And the cost of making them depends of the price of energy.

Unless you're talking about some other technology....

Pv's need very pure silicon, and it takes _a lot_ of energy to
make pure silicon: so much in fact that it's questionable if a pv produces more energy than was used to make it.

The energy payback time quoted by Nanosolar is one month.
They don't use silicon.
