Yes, strange how the rest of the world prefers Japanese or German
stuff, isn't it? You'd think the world would recognise British quality
and durability, wouldn't you?
They do - they just can't afford to buy it so we can no longer afford
to make it.
What if....the cost of living in the UK was 50% of what is is now? I
wonder what that would do not only for people's ability to work and
pay bills, but for the country's productivity as a whole?
Of course that won't happen - government is too busy buying business
votes to worry about reigning them in in any way.
Someone needs to acknowledge that good business means squeezing every
extra £ out of the customer that you can and that there is no
self-restraint. Business does it, public sector managers do it, even
the government does it (another penny in tax here, another there...)
Even as a libertarian I can see how this is actually harming the
country in a deeply damaging way because we simply cannot even afford
to get out of bed anymore. The only people getting rich now even in
the city are those gambling on the downfall of our economy...
