ah, but it isn't 'extra' carbon unless the plant is fossil fuel fed...
it is part of the (present) natural cycle carbon balance

What you can see is particulates consisting essentially of solid
carbon particles. Carbon dioxide said to be an anthropogenic cause of
global warming is a totally transparent, colourless, odourless gas.
This present image makers with a problem of protraying it as a
pollutant (which, in fact it isn't) Therefore whenever you are
presented with pictures of "greenhouse gases" being emitted, you see
in fact smoke usually mixed with water condensate coomonly mistakenly
referred to as steam.

What amounts to essentially carbon dust that you see here will
eventually settle out or be washed out of the atmosphere by rain and
into the soil, water courses and oceans. There it will remain in
perpetuity as solid carbon. Solid carbon is relatively inert and can
only become carbon dioxide through combustion which under these
circumstances is unlikely.

In short the carbon is being fixed.

So! Whilst I would advise against breathing that mixture, in carbon
dioxide terms, it's quite clean.

all agreed...but
carbon black is a suspect factor in agw in view of the fact it will
reduce albedo....especially in ice areas....
it is also suspected that in the air it absorbs heat while other
particulates are suspected to shielding incoming heat....

further, there are the unseen carbon exudates to which my earlier
post is addressed....
