If the bear had been named mohamud - would that be illegal too? How
about Moohamid? How about "Pizza" or "eggcup". Yes mmm "Eggcup" the
bear: 40 lashes. There are a few other permutations but I think you
get the idea.
How about "Miss Feminist"? RH
So, what's the penalty for blasphemy in Britain?
I guess you missed the signs displayed during the cartoon protest in
London.
The signs that got several Muslims jailed?
If so, you already knew the answer to your question...........

I really don't understand your point.
Mine was a rhetorical question concerning the still extant English blasphemy laws that come with real jail time.

Extant are they? Ok. When was the last time that someone was charged
convicted lawfully sentenced to corporal punishment for blasphemy in the
UK?
Lotsa laws are 'on the books'.
I think the last prosecution was in the 70s, but not too sure.
And had the defendants been found guilty, they would have spent a bit more than 10 days in jail.

OK. Thanks. That's a bit the other side of the nearest muslim having a
duty to kill them (another post today). IINM, that was a case of really
gross blasphemy in a porn movie, and they were found not guilty and that
really broke the back of any blasphemy laws in the UK.

(BTW, thanks for answering this twice, this message was a repost of a
previous one with a correction for words left out.)

As for the 40 lashes bit, I have no problem with incorporating corporal punishment in our penal codes. Works well for Singapore.
