I borrowed Dawkins' 'The God Delusion' from my local library. Dawkins
is very much an institutional man, gregarious, taking his values from

Quote from the preface to the paperback edition:-
"When the feminists raised our consciousness about sexist pronouns,
they would have been preaching to the choir where the more substantive
issues of the rights of women and the evils of discrimination then
were concerned. But that decent liberal choir still needed its
consciousness raised with respect to everyday language. However right-
on we may have been on the political issues of rights and
discrimination we nevertheless still unconsciously bought into the
linguistic conventions that made half the human race feel excluded.
There are other conventions that need to go the same way as sexist
pronouns and the atheist choir is not exempt."
This is his so called rationalism, his so called enlightenment. Half
the human race do not feel as he says they do.
And he goes on about intellectual cowardice. It is pathetic that such
feeble stuff should come from such an allegedly brilliant mind.
His so called rational enlightenment and progress mean swallowing
wholesale the values of his socially limited community, which is
"decent liberal" and "right-on". (I dislike how the term "liberal" has
come to mean what we call politically correct).
Where is the philosophical defence of all this extra baggage atheism
is supposed to bring with it? Dawkins just dogmatises the values of
his class. He is anti-philosophical.
This is precisely the moralistic anti-intellectual arrogance that
characterises the present Labour government.
just so...dorkins is not 'a brilliant mind'....
he is a talented populariser....
who regularly steps outside his areas of competence
