Evan Davis mentioned this at lunchtime. Apparently our deposit
protection scheme (100% on first £30000, 90% on rest up to £100000 and
on the rest nothing) administered by the FSA compares badly to those
enjoyed in other countries. Moreover, no matter what the limitations
of this scheme, its existance is so badly publicised and hence known.
I wonder how long those queues might have been had NR's depositors
been generally aware of this fact right from the outset.
you sure of these figures?
i have more like 100% on the first 2 or 3,000....90% up to around
£30,000...and then zero....
100% on £2,000 and 90% on the next £33,000 I believe.
Thus the scheme returns £31,700.
