Interesting to note that Mallon was the victim of a long-running vendetta
as a direct consequence of his hard work having showed up his lazy and
stupid peers. The hierarchy of the police resemble the Admiralty of
Nelson's day - a cabal of self-interested charlatans.
Cleveland Police is nick named the Keystone Kops by the officers from Durham
and North Yorks, Mallon was a cop not afraid of offending sensibilities he
just terrorised the criminals, he was to successful and the senior officers
were jelous of him so they tried to discredit him.
