modernised EU, republic of UK: interests and organisations

I am interested to know what interests and attitudes in society have
towards the EU and
a republic of UK. When will people change the country into a proper
modern EU like state without a monarchy and with a proper constitution
for citizens ? How can the UK get away with being different to most of
the rest of Europe ? What organisations in the UK are working to
develop towards these norms.
