Good grief, do you actually know what is going on in the world? Al
Qaeda is not some sort of national resistance organisation. It seeks to
replace all of the governments of the world with ones based on Islam,
starting with those in the Middle East. It attacks the west because it
perceived that western support for Middle Eastern governments is a
major prop to them. To stop them hurting us all we have to do is stand
aside while they bring their idea of law to millions of people around
the world, before, that is, they get round to us. Too bad if they are
gay, or women, or consume any kind of media other than sermons, or
believe in free speech or the right not to believe in God.

I believe all the above is utter bollocks. The few criminals, aka
terrorists, who got lucky, just as other kinds of 'master criminal'
get lucky (with drugs, bank robberies etc), are in a disappearingly
small minority compared to the millions of Muslims who just want a
quiet life. All you do, by this continual hyping of the criminals'
status, is help to exacerbate the threat, just talking it up. The 'Al
Quaedas' of this world have about as much chance to 'bring their idea
of law to millions of people around the world' as Tony Blair has of
convincing us he's a pretty straight kind of a guy.

I believe the vast majority of Muslims want a quiet life and are happy to
mind their own business. Unfortunately there is a vocal and violent
minority who want their idea of law for all 'or else', and there are enough
to do us harm.

Regardless of their actual chances of bringing their 'idea of law to
millions of people around the world', they did rule Afghanistan (population
30m) for a bit, and they continue to rule a small portion of it. Many
Pakistanis are worried about the same thing happening to Pakistan, and IIRC
the same can be said of Indonesians and Indonesia. Then of course there are
their numerous acts of terrorism all over the world.
