How do they calculate the cost of these hoax calls?
Are not the firemen etc... waiting for a call, be it hoax or real?
Is not the only extra cost incured simply the fuel used to get to the
alledged emergency?
Obviously, hoax calls are a menace, but theres one thing that puzzles
me.
When the subject is brought up the firemen say, each time someone makes
a hoax call, lives are put at risk.
Right, so if I call the brigade for a chimney fire, am I putting lives
at risk?
If a house catches fire, is that putting other lives at risk?
Are the fire service stretched so thinly ,that if there are more than a
couple of incidents in one area, does the service crack up?
If so - god help us if there is a national disaster.
