American soldiers, who've probably got no more desire to be in Iraq
than have most British soldiers,

when it doesn't seem to cause some of our regular gloaters equal
glee when British soldiers get killed. We are, unfortunately, on
the same side as the Americans, after all.

than am I; there was me thinking they were complaining -- particularly
the reservists -- about the extended tours of duty they're having to
do in Iraq, but clearly I'm mistaken.
That's not a gripe about being asked to take part in a gross violation
of international law and an illegal invasion - it's moaning about
having to spend so much time away from Momma.

about the views of American soldiers than am I; all I have to go on is
what I read, whereas you've obviously overcome your dislike of Americans
and discussed the matter with several Americans serving out there.

And I agree that our troops shouldn't be there. It's just that,
given that they are there, unfortunately, as allies of the Americans,
I don't see why you don't have a good gloat when they get killed, too.

No, they didn't join the armed forces to invade and occupy foreign
countries which posed us no threat. Moronicans, on the other hand, have

feature attractions like career prospects, training and post-service
financial benefits rather than the opportunity to invade countries most
American servicemen probably couldn't have found on the map until

But anyway, I still don't quite see what difference all this is supposed
to make to an Iraqi insurgent. Is he supposed to differentiate between
our chaps and the Americans because our chaps constitute a better class of
invader, or what? I'm sure they do, but I'm not sure an Iraqi would be
particularly aware of the distinction. I still don't quite see why you
appear to applaud Iraqis killing some illegal invaders and occupiers, as
you see it, of their country and not others.

Will someone please explain the concept of patriotism to Glynn.
