Can Ariadne or Mickey Gee give me one example of why Israel is our friend?
this seems to be the basis of your support, but I cannot think why because
they don't seem to be good friends - they bombed/killed our soldiers when we
first set the place up, they don't comply with our extradition requests,
they refuse to get off aircraft when our citizens want to take them to court
etc.

Another question, certainly for Mickey Gee (I'm never sure of Ariadne's nationality, but, if she's a British citizen it would certainly be interesting to know her reply), is, should Israel's national interests and those of the UK ever come into clear conflict, whose interests would they like the then British government to follow?

Britain's and Israel's interests clash all the time, Steve, over
trade, finance, etc. I do not particularly side with either, as I'm not
involved with that area.

Really? Do you not think that Britain's economic interests affect you and your fellow citizens particularly?

If it came to war I would support whoever I
believed carried the moral argument, although I hope that day will
never come.

So do I hope it would never come, but if, God forbid, it did, your loyalty seems very conditional. I'm not saying it should unconditional, but I would have expected something a bit stronger than 'I'd decide at the time who I thought was in the right'.

Most Brits are the same. We will generally support the underdog, who
has historically been the Jew. Our troops saw the camps. Certainly we
are on a higher level than dirty chavs like Chris X who are basically
card-carrying Hamas bombers and would do away with this country if we
let them.

You're confusing Jews in general, and Israeli citizens in particular, with the Government of Israel. You wouldn't, I take it, have argued that because the Serbs had been our allies in two world wars and had suffered greatly at the hands of the Nazis we should, for those reasons alone, more recently have sided with them against Croatia or, later, with them against the folks in Kosovo, though there may well have been other excellent reasons for so doing.
