It's all bollox to me - each form of politicisation looks to me like
just another form of control freakery whether socialism or capitalism.
Both systems depend on the dependency of humans and therefore disgust
me.

There is much truth in that Maria. Both ideologies require the sweat
and toil of other men/women to achieve their goals: Socialism makes
you dependent on the state; Capitalism makes you dependent on work.

Hence my attraction to liberty.

Me too.
When it gets to a point where someone must take home at least £250
week in order to merely subsist, in a country where so many people are
paid less than that, something must be wrong.

And the absurdity of it is that those poorly paid people will still be
subject to income tax because of the ludicrously low personal tax
allowances. Blair/Brown had the chance to hugely increase allowances
and remove millions from tax altogether but failed to do so. So much
for their credentials.

Meanwhile, some stockbrokers still rake in annuals of £millions.
In the US it's even more polarised as we've seen in N.O./elsewhere.

I believe that humans are inherently capable of co-operating and
progressing without government, church or corporate intervention - and
that such intervention in fact holds back progression in human
activity.

I certainly think govt gets involved in too much, hence my desire for a British constitution to limit/control the powers of govt to those things which are essentially needed by a centralised body.

I'm probably an anarchist - the problem is that there will always be a
minority of humans who attempt to overtake and harness the others -
they should be shot on sight when they attempt to cross the line! :)

As they say: "nobody ever got rich working for someone else". To make real money, you have to exploit the work of others.

That's true, as I've found out this last year - not that I exploit either
of
my subbies of course but I see how easily it would be for me to do so if I
was employing them on an "employed" basis.

Indeed. Have you thought of employing lardy on a day-rate basis? Rumour has it he's looking for something useful to do... ;-)

I hope you're not suggesting I'd use the abelard as a novelty paperweight ?!

Possibly a garden gnome with flashing lights in his ears :)

LOL ! Now there's a thought ... ;)

"We are proud that our gnomes are made in America and shipped all over the world."

LOL !

Globalisation! What about all the British gnomes that being made redundant by this? :(

A story that might appeal to you. I heard on the radio some time ago about surreal scenes on the highways from Germany into the Czech Republic before the Czechs joined the EU. Apparently, when you drove in, you used to see lay-bys full of, alternately, prostitutes and garden gnomes. For some reason garden gnomes -- very popular in Germany, apparently -- are pretty expensive there because German intellectual property law means (or meant) only a few German companies could manufacture them, since they'd got the copyright to the concept. Consequently, Czech garden gnomes (like, presumably, Czech prostitutes) were far cheaper than the German equivalent, so there was a flourishing black market.

"It has been said," he began at length, withdrawing his eyes reluctantly from an usually large insect upon the ceiling and addressing himself to the maiden, "that there are few situations in life that cannot be honourably settled, and without any loss of time, either by suicide, a bag of gold, or by thrusting a despised antagonist over the edge of a precipice on a dark night." .
