I wonder. This would seem to suggest that you can't experience both
desire and fear at the same time. Isn't, though, that exactly what
people enjoy when they risk sexual activity in public places
(apparently very popular in the UK just now, under the name of
'dogging') - the fear of discovery and the desire for sex. Fear can
add piquancy to desire, aren't fun-fairs, with their ersatz fear
favourite places for young couples to go?
That's a good point.
But does it invalidate the research, or suggest that there are other
switches and modules in the mind that can interact with desire and
dread?
