But I don't think I'd be happy being a pig, and pursuing truth makes

That's only because you haven't experienced being a pig digging up a
truffle.

I think I have, metaphorically, and can see that other pigs also find
other similar truffles, but I still choose not to be attached to the
truffles unlike many who not only find their truffles but come to the
conclusion that their way of digging for them is the only way and people
digging in other places, rather than being left alone, should be made to
use the One True digging hole. Some will expend a lot of energy fighting
over whether to dig then sniff, or sniff then dig.

Now is that taking a metaphor too far? It makes the Parable of the Raft
seem tame in comparison.

One of the truffles I tasted was called Maya. It was probably the bigger
one - an understanding that what we see of the world is so filtered by our
own pre-processing and ideas. Although the world itself is real and not
illusion[1], our perception is so coloured.

There are Christians I talk to who seem amazed to think that a
non-Christian can experience truffledom. It's not what they were taught.

[1] I've seen a lot of people interpret Maya as "The world is an
illusion".
