Agreed, both my children reported that their RE teachers refused to
allow proper debates on evolution, because the kids were better informed
and able to shoot down the faith based teachers' arguments. So I
wouldn't expect a good result even if it was part of the RE syllabus
simply because RE teachers are largely religious and would find the
discussions too threatening so would make them as short as they could.

Isn't it good, though, that children realise that adults can be
stupid and that they understand how to undermine their supidity?
It's a shame that so many adults believe things that can so easily be seen
as stupid.

A shame indeed, but, were it not so, how would the Lottery make so much
money for charity?

The problem with the lotter is that every other week the newspapers are
full of evidence that it is possible for ordinary people to win lots of
money. Faced with such evidence is the decision to be in to win really
so stupid?

Yes.

There is evidence for people doing many things, the Olympics, for
example, none of that is evidence that Mr Smith can do them or will do them.

You are comparing apples with skyscrapers and you should know it. An
equal chance of winning the lottery requires only a small amount of
money. An equal chance of winning an Olympic medal cannot be for most
people since skill, dedication and a good hand dealt in the genetic
lottery are all required, at minimum. Try again.
