talking about memes at all. The point of memes is to offer a Darwinian
account of the extremely difficult notion of culture, and so calrify
some of the difficulties. But as far as I can see they actually offer
no additional insights and pose additional difficulties.
My point wasn't really, though, to forward their case, but to point out how, as you say, the notion of 'culture' is such a difficult one.
I think we agree.
