Some of his remarks are suggestive. Very liitle is known about Tacitus
apart from his surviving writings according to Wickipedia.
A colleague in clasics tells me that the only surviving Greek or Roman
writer to explicitly state that slavery was morally unjustified was
Seneca. However, my colleague also tells me that Seneca nevertheless
kept slaves...
