What do you do with a burnt out PC with a damaged hard disc? Do you try
and repair it or do you just chuck it on the scrap heap? So can we stop
trying to repair this brain damaged creationist guy in this group
please. He is just a waste of space. If he keeps forgetting to take his
medication then just chuck him on the scrap heap of brain damaged
cretins and forget about him. There are far more intelligent things to
talk about, or disagree about.
I've killfiled him, but there are people who just can't resist responding.
I guess the key is for the rest of us to engage in a meaningful discussion
without being distracted by him.
......that's it precisely Ian, in my view.
We've just had a lengthy thread here with some decent contributions ("Why do
half a dozen rocks...." etc), dilv has posted and for the most part everyone
just ignored his posts and got on with the discussion. There are some who,
for reasons I've still yet to fathom, continue to reply to his posts with
thought out, intelligent responses which, in some ways, is even more futile!
I am so tired of reading the *240 fine tuned thingummies*, *your creator
exists*, *Francis Crick lies*, *a personal Theistic Creator who has given
many scientifically verifiable parameters of special creationism, is
rational and credible* and on and on and on......the same diatribe without
any attempt to intellectually rationalise how his faith is nothing but
that...his faith.
Asking others to believe your irrationality - especially those who are
atheists by choice - is futile but also mindless without the supporting
rational argument for the religious belief system being promoted.
Dilv has yet to post one iota of personal thought and intellectual
conclusion... depending entirely on repetitive diatribe that bores any free
thinking human to the verges of death by a million cuts.
Think twice before replying to dilv.... that would be my advice to members
here......
I quite frequently compose long-winded, thought out responses to Dave's
posts - and then trash them without sending. The point of the exercise I
suppose, is to focus my thoughts on a subject, clarify some ideas, even
zip off elsewhere for a while to check my facts. Then when I'm satisfied
with my response, that satisfaction is mine. It doesn't matter whether
he sees my answer or not, and I'm certain my words wouldn't make a dent
in his armour anyway. I tend to treat him as a generic fundy sounding
board, rather than someone who needs to be refuted.
I do agree that he should be ignored. I've noticed during those periods
when the group has succeeded in doing this, that he gets increasingly
shrill and provocative - changing subject headers, mis-spelling people's
names & so on - and I'd like to see what would happen if this was kept
up for a protracted period. I think he would eventually have a big
dummy-spit and go somewhere else - where he can get people to pay him
the attention he craves.
That said, I can't really blame anyone for giving in to the temptation
to give him a slap. I had to, when I first encountered him. Hopefully,
those people will get bored with him very quickly.
Discipline, self-restraint, self-denial. All good Christian virtues, eh?
;)
