Posting as DaveInLakeVilla or IlBeBauck or other historical aliases,
Dave initiates and responds to threads. Dave's posting style is
frequently referred to as "drive by" in that he often makes a claim
and then fails to support assertions when challenged and this has
resulted in him being branded a troll by some. His content appears
to be drawn from creationist websites and is typical of such content
- mostly deeply flawed. Whilst many contributors have responded by
refuting these claims, including posting references, Dave then
typically fails to respond or comment further and certainly never
acknowledges by correcting his errors. Even where claims can be
shown to be completely dishonest (many of the quotes are
deliberately given out of context to seriously distort their
meaning, even to the point of reversing their original meaning) Dave
shamelessly posts them again after a suitable delay.
Typical content and useful references:
1. Bogus science - various bogus scientific laws are cited to show
that evolution or abiogenesis are impossible
http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/
2. Quote mining - bogus quotes are given, frequently from "famous
evolutionists" that appear to admit that evolution is wrong
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/quotes/mine/project.html
3. Spurious allegations - that atheism is somehow a religion and
based on a desire to avoid moral controls
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism
http://atheism.about.com/od/atheismmyths/p/AtheismMyths.htm
http://www.atheists.org/faqs/atheism.html
4. Flawed logic - typically use of bogus science in support of the
"argument from ignorance" where it is falsely claimed that, as the
science is somehow faulty then "goddidit"
http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CA/CA100.html
Conclusion:
No-one has the right to stop you posting as you wish, but those that
have done so over a long period of time realise that in this case it
is completely futile. We invite you to join us in this initiative to
starve Dave of the oxygen of publicity and join us in not responding
to his posts.
