I've done a search for some of Dave's quotes and Google comes up with
Dave's previous posts!
Some seem to have gone through a sort of Chinese Whisper effect and the
original quote has got paraphrased into something a bit different. Other
quotes are snippets Creationists have taken which appear to say something
but if the whole comment is read you'll see the argument says the reverse.
Some such quotes will sometimes show half a sentence, snipping the latter
half if it does suit their needs.
I suspect that a lot of the bogus quotes he gets are from pamphlets.
They same, I suspect, is true of the arguments he presents. In many
cases I get the feeling that he doesn't even understand the arguments
that he presents. He just seems to think that they are the kind of
thing that should give us heathens pause.
His lack of understanding of his own arguments is why he won't make the
slightest attempt to defend any of them if they are challenged. All he
does is move on to a new batch of arguments and quotes.
I've also speculated before that he thrives on feeling persecuted for
his efforts. Even itisdave doesn't expect to convert anyone here, but
he does feel that he scores points with the big guy in the sky by
suffering as a consequence of spreading his <strike>Turd</strike> Word.
I suspect that after Dave has done something he considers sinful (maybe
a real crime against real people, or some "sin" like masturbating while
thinking of men) he will feel the need to suffer some abuse for God.
And so one of his outlets might be here.
This, of course, is just speculation based on very little information.
I could entirely be missing the boat with this. But given what we have,
that is my best guess so far.
Also, he always seems to go away after I describe this sort of
speculation. Maybe he feels guilty that his motives for his missionary
work are not entirely sound.
If he his feeling that he needs to suffer (even if only public
humiliation) for thought crimes or if he feels that the public
humiliation he subjects himself to can absolve him of real crimes then
there is a real problem. Some sort of counseling (maybe with clergy)
might be a good idea.
