Look on the bottle of multivitamins.

If it's /just/ a multivitamin preparation, with no minerals listed, then
there can be no problems - assuming you're bought mineral supplements
suitable for people, with a suitable dose marked up.

(it's unusual to overdose on magnesium, apparently - your kidneys do a
good job of getting rid of it, apparently, but that assumes you're
drinking enough water...)

The multivitamins may well contain vitamin D, and Vitamin D is commonly added to calcium supplements to aid absorption, and together you might be in danger of taking too much vitamin D. I don't know what is meant by 'too much' in this case, but for vitamin D it's normally considered to be a low multiple of the recommended daily amount. ...
