I want a cat but I have been putting it off.
I'm not ready yet. I want to be sure that I can look after a little moggie.
That's very responsible of you.
I would have to get up in the morning to feed it.
I would have to smoke less.
I would have to keep the place tidier and cleaner.
Also, if I got a cat, I would worry if it stayed out late.
I would have to have a cat curfew.
Government advice, still extant despite the non-arrival (so far) of avian flu, is to keep cats indoors at night and away from bird feeding places at all times.
If I had a cat and it died, I don't know how I would cope.
How about getting a guinea-pig, hamster, or rat? A friend has a house-trained rabbit.
So, for now, I will have pet houseplants.
If a houseplant dies it is only a small sadness.
I am getting better at propagating!
I have started buying seeds.
I am good at keeping them watered.

Houseplants are good - they suck up CO2 and chemicals from the air and give out O2. Everyone should have houseplants.
