Yesterday was horrible. I was drinking glass after glass of water but
nothing was coming out the other end (too much information?). It
crossed my mind that people have died from drinking too much plain
water.

That's why traditional advice is to take salt in very hot weather.  I
don't what the current "expert" opinion is about that.

I think that's still true, but I've no idea where the threshhold for
needing salt kicks in.

There's a growing market for trendy drinks which are supposed to
rebalance your electrolytes after sport. I don't use them because a)
they are very expensive for what they are and b) they tend to contain
nasty stuff like aspartame to 'sweeten' them.
