Meds can suppress

that's why there are such compliance issues. But anti-psychotics
continue to be prescribed in order to control 'problem' behaviour.
Have a look at this:

Is it justifiable to medicate a person for behaviours that are out of sync with so called normal behaviour but which in themselves though odd
are fundamentally benign behaviours? - there would be a good argument for saying no if taken merely from the perspective of how much actual harm that person is causing others.
However looked at from the perspective of how others may respond to that person on account of such benign but eccentric behaviours then it's decidely more ambiguous.
Ideally one could rightly say that the real problem lies with those too intolerant to accept such odd but basically benign behaviour and that societal attitudes need to be changed rather than drugging someone into a 'societally acceptable' state but on an immediate practical level the argument could be used that medication helps to reduce behaviours that though benign in themselves might result in harm to that person from those who are not tolerant of such behaviours.
