I've had it with drinking. At first alcohol seemed to help but now I can
see that it's making me worse. The worst thing is that, because I restrict
my drinking to weekends, my weekday life is beginning to feel intolerably
boring and flat in comparison. In the week I just go through the motions,
do the absolute minimum, and wait until the weekend so I can get
shitfaced. I suppose this is a sign that drinking is quickly becoming the
whole point of my life.

Also, it seems to take me a good three or four days to mentally pick up
after drinking. But by that time it's nearly time to get blasted again so
I never fully recover and I'm sick of feeling mentally torpid all the
time.

I won't say never. Absolute thinking is bad. But what I will do is declare
the month of June an alcohol free zone and I'll see how I feel in July.
This temporariness will make it achievable.

Tipped my vodka down the sink. I was just about to say "is that where the
expression 'drunk as a plug' comes from?" but then I realised there's no
such expression ;o)

Good idea mate.  I hope you manage it. :o)- Hide quoted text -

Yep...I agree, good idea...tip the lot down the sink and just go for
it. At least you've realized that it's becoming a problem and starting
to take over your life, so there's time yet to pull away from it.
Best of luck without it!
