Speaking of new bands..

I picked up a CD from a seller on eBay the other day (he had
'Employment' - Kaisers - which I been after for ages) full of
(British) bands I'd never heard of (and most I never will again as 95%
of them have now split - most after only 2 or 3 years - shows how
tough it is to break into the music biz these days, I guess...). Of
the ones I'd not come across was an excellent 4-piece from Nottingham
called 'The Duke Spirit' who recently opened for R.E.M. at the Royal
Albert Hall when they did a gig for R2.

The album's called 'Future's Burning' (and it was vol.5 - so I'm now
trying to track down 1-4) - and it was dedicated to the late - and
*very* great - J.P ., so he must have had a hand in discovering some
of them (how much better would the rest have fared if he was still
with us, one will never know...).

There were early tracks from the likes of Franz Ferdinand, The
Kaisers, The Libertines, Goldie Lookin' Chain, The Ordinary Boys, The
Editors, Razorlight, The Zutons, Bloc Party and The Coral, but the
rest was comprised of tracks from bands which have now split (Dogs Die
In Hot Cars, The 22-20s, Hope Of The States, Sons & Daughters, The
Dead 60s, The Departure, The Others and Open) which is a shame because
they were all extremely good.
