Personally I don't know. A poster I respect has elsewhere recommended

I was wrong... the AVG thing *isn't* the firewall so can you recommend one pretty please?

I hope you dont mind me butting in ;-)

My dad subscribes to PC answers which is a pretty good pc mag for geeks which i must admit i find very informative :-) They reckon you can get by without using any paid for security programs if you dont mind mixing and matching from different companies instead of getting an "all in one" suite from one particular company.

Free stuff :-

For antivirus they recommend AVG or Avast
For firewalls try Zonealarm or Comodo
For antispyware try AVG, superantispyware or PC Tools Spyware Doctor (starter edition).

I personally use

1) AVG antivirus 7.5
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0

2)Comodo Firewall 3
http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

3) PC tools starter edition Spyware Doctor (via googlepack)
http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/google_pack/

This combination keeps all the nasties at bay.

PS If you're using Internet Explorer as your browser it might be worth considering swapping to Firefox because it's much more secure than microsofts browser.
