originated in India or thereabouts. The vegetarian haggis, however, was

They hunted out their natural prey (tigers or elephants or one of the
other things there aren't in Scotland any more) so they copied the giant
pandas and went all laid-back and hippy and took to eating nothing but
rowan trees. In fact there is some evidence that they also eat midges,
when no-one is looking, but they are very embarrassed about that and
never respond when challenged about it. They never talk to the omnivore
haggises except through a lawyer.
