I get less confused with american english accents, than some of our own.
I wonder if that is because of all the cowboy films I used to watch,
when I was a lad, at the local picture house?

Think about it: they speak English in the USA, but it's an English which
had to be modified so that everyone - all the Germans and Swedes and
Poles and everyone else who moved there could speak easily. Time did
its thing, and - well, it turns out that Swedes and Norwegians I have
spoken to tell me that they find it easier to speak US accented English
than our variety.

I suspect that's got something to do with it: American English is easier
than our sort. We've been quite arsey about keeping our oddities 'cos
we like 'em.

And of course, I might not have come across many american accents, to be
quite honest, I don't know many americans.
I dunno really, just a thought ;o)

And then again, the Rednecks. What , I wonder, do they sound like when they
get into full flow.

Uncultured, ill-educated, in-bred morons, for the most part. Apologies
to any uncultured, ill-educated, in-bred morons who feel insulted by the
comparison.
