All I'm trying to say is don't give up hope just yet... give
it time and don't be afraid to speak up when you're feeling
bad 'cos talking about it with people who understand really
can help!
Well, I cracked up about a decade ago and things have just
got
steadily worse. What I find is that in time, things get worse
and > the situation becomes more and more hopeless.
Talk to your GP and ask him to put you on/increase/change ADs?
I have no access to a GP, nor any means of getting such access.
My PCT has barred me from accessing my GP (although I officially
have a GP). They refuse to explain why they have done this and
refuse to discuss anythign to do with me accessing the health
care I need. My MP has refused to get involved, and so have all
the solicitors I've contacted. Ditto advocacy organisations.
Surely they can't do that can they?
They can do what the hell they like, so it seems.
Can you talk to your MP about it?
As I've already explained, he refuses to listen.
Ah right! Sorry for having such a bad memory!
If they can then surely someone can
tell you where you can go to get medical treatment?
Yes, I am required to go to my GP. Except that I'm not capable of
doing so, and I'm banned from the premises (no reason given) and
I'm banned from contacting my GP (no reason given).
Can you change your GP or is the one you can't see the only one in
your area?
No way of doing that. The single surgery in my area `sacked' me
(again, no reason given, no idea what brought it on; I think I was
maybe costing them too much. My GP was on holiday when it happened,
which means their actions were against regs and possibly illegal). If
you approach a GP out of area, they just say that they're not
permitted to take on patients out of area - which is a lie, and if you
put in a formal written complaint about what they said, they lie again
and say that they didn't say that but come up with another excuse as
to why they won't consider taking on any patients from out of area.
Have you thought about taking legal action over what happened?
As far as I am aware, I have never behaved in an untoward
fashion in the
presence of any NHS staff or in an NHS establishment: why I have
been banned, I cannot imagine.
Can you go to your local hospital and talk to someone there about
what your options are?
You think I'm willing to enter a hospital without some sort of
protection? You've got to be kidding. But I've tried it in the
past - what they say is `See your GP' and won't discuss any
problems like the fact that it's not possible for me to see my GP.
Could you go to your local A&E and explain the situation to them...
Yes, and as I've said, they tell me to see my GP. What part of that
do you not understand?
I'm trying to understand, really I am! :o)
it's
not right that you're left with no medical bods! :o(
Correct, but so what?
So there must be *someone* on your side?
There is no hope. Hope is a killer. My only hope is to
abandon all hope - if that makes sense. I can live if I
accept that every day is meaningless, empty, misery with no
point and no reason with nothing to do and no purpose in
life. I can live like that. That's all I have.
How about doing something to give you something to look forward
to
each day?
Eh? I've no idea what you could be thinking of. *DO*
something? How? Have you no idea just how incapable I am?
You're not incapable, you're ill! :o)
Eh? I'm incapable /because/ I'm ill.
Have you thought about getting alternative treatments like
hypnotherapy and things like that?
Nothing could convince me to pay any private mental health treatment.
As far as I can figure out, the field is mostly a scam for ripping off
vulnerable people. I base my comments on having met some private
mental health therapists (yes, plural) and seen 'em in action. Just
as bad as the old-fashioned Freudian psychotherapists - although
modern techniques are different. Freudian psychotherapy is utterly
discredited, but it's been replaced by the equally bad (for pretty
much the same reasons) psychodynamic therapy.
Not private mental health stuff but things like hypnotherapy and NLP and
things like that?
Sorry if I've already asked and you've already
answered but I've got a terrible memory! :o(
In a different message to you I suggested studying but how
about
learning to play a musical instrument or supporting your local
sports team or something like that?
I fail to see how supporting a sports team could do anything at
all for me. What does it mean? Give them money? I've no
interest in spectator sport, I don't have a telly, and I can't
get out very much. As for learning to play a musical instrument:
how could that do anything but make me even more inclined to
slit my wrists even if I were able to do something like that,
which I'm not. I'd need lessons and that'd be impossible.
How about making a website then? There are loads of books on
Amazon that will tell you how to do it :o)
As I've tried to explain, I cannot do so for all sorts of reasons.
Nor do I think I'll find any useful books. There seems to have
been no decent technical documentation published in the last two
decades. Books on computer stuff - /modern/ such books - are almost
impenetrable to me. I'm quite happy with old-fashioned formal
technical manuals, but I can't get anywhere with the modern stuff.
All of it's written and structured far too badly for me to make
coherent sense out of it. `Applescript for Dummies' is the single
most annoying technical book I've ever wasted my money on, for
example. Utterly useless for learning anything as far as I'm
concerned.
I've got no idea what any of these are like, but how about this page
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mac-OS-Missing-Manual-
Tiger/sim/0596009410/2/ref=pd_sexpl_s_b/203-6082089-6923107?ie=UTF8
&pf=book - is there anything on there that might help?
The `Missing Manual' series is a prime example of `totally crap modern
computer documentation'. It does in any case not contain much that's
of use. I have an earlier edition of the book you cite.
Ah right! How about these then or are they the same

No, if I were going to produce a Web site, I'd look at on-line
sources and try to learn a bit more HTML, then I'd get on and write
it. <shrug>
You could try Bravenet... they've got all sorts of add-on things and
you can build your own site as you go as well as learning html?
The problem has nothing whatever to do with the technicalities of
producing a Web page, but the problems of producing worthwhile
content.
You know lots of stuff that could be a great source of information to
those less knowledgeable than you!
But I am not capable of producing a worthwhile Website at the
moment. Nor is there anything I'd be interested in putting up on a
Website aside from some information about motorcycle maintenance -
the bits I've picked up that don't seem to be in the books. But
don't suggest that I do it because I've already tried and failed in
utter, hopeless, suicidal despair.
Okey dokes! :o)
Every time I've attempted something like that and failed, it's
driven me deeper down into the pit of despair. So for the sake of
maintaining what's left of my mental health, I've stopped making
such attempts - and that is because they have proven harmful to me,
okay? So please stop suggesting that I do something like that.
I've tried, and it's done me nothing but harm.
I'm sorry that things like that have done nothing but harm you :o(
<shrug> That's life.
It shouldn't have to be though :o(
Talking about `it' with people who understand - well, that's
not possible. No-one understands my position, so it seems.
Certainly I just get attacked by a bunch of slavering hounds
in this newsgroup f I should open my mouth, don't I?
Rowland.
I'll listen if you mail me off the group! :o)
I thought you wanted no more email from me.
Huh? When did I say that?
Inference based on lack of reply.
I have replied!
If so, your reply didn't arrive.
I'm really starting to not like Windows Mail!
Send both emails to me again and I'll reply as soon as I
get them :o) For some reason Windoze Mail deletes anything you
reply to
:o(
Why do people buy MS software at all, I wonder? There's got to be
*some* way to turn that idiotic behaviour off - are you sure that it
deletes the emails rather than moving them to a different
folder/directory/whatever?
If it does, I don't know which folder it gets moved to! :o(
Tell you what, how about trying to find a better email client?
Being all Mac, I can't suggest what might be good for you - but I do
know that Thunderbird does email, and it's the email counterpart of
Firefox and gets a lot of use.
Oh right! I'll look into it and see what plays nicely with Vista :o)
I can't promise to have all the answers but I
*will* listen! :o)
I'd be happier if you understood as well as listened.
I'm trying to understand! Honest! :o)
Thank you.
Rowland.
