A district nurse told me last week that they are being stretched to breaking point by the local hospital shovelling people out of beds and back home before they're ready, often with nasty problems like MRSA.

Still, the district nursing team seem pretty hot on hygiene and the local hospital is one of the worst in the country for MRSA so perhaps it's not all bad for the patients.

As an aside, my tabloid du jour [1] for yesterday had a snippet about some university boffin who ranked various jobs on the job satisfaction of the incumbents - Health and Social Services Managers came third (out of ten). Those guys are in for a hell of a shock when I take over the world - I hope they have their wills up-to-date.
