Yes, the mental health professionals think that it's an indication of
devious attention seeking designed to manipulate them, so you want to
keep that sort of thing hidden from them to avoid being singled out for
especially bad treatment.

<sigh> If you go in expecting to be treated badly, then that increases
the likelihood that you will be.
