Okay, I quite believe Chris when he says that I'll get it back - and
backdated - but it's just one hassle I just don't need.

That's good.

Rowland, if you're reading this

Yup.

- thank you. <hug>s You were *exactly*
what I needed last night.

Ta. I am down. Very down.

P.S. So far, it ain't raining - but it's bloody cold! I'm beginning to
think I've been asleep for 5 months and it's really November! The high
here today? 12°C

That's not cold. What I mean by that is that I find it easy to stay
toasty warm on my bike until the temperature drops to below about 10°C,
and I can stay warming when walking around much more readily than when
riding me bike.

(though the wind chill factor - and who would have
thought we'd have been talking about that in *July*?! - will make it
feel half that).

No it won't, because anyone with any sense will have a coat on so the
wind-chill factor won't do that to them.

In any case, have you read how that `wind chill factor' was worked out?
Argh. It's not very reliable, it's really not. I don't criticise the
bloke who came up with it back in, erm, the 1940s (IIRC), and he did a
good first attempt at quantifying the wind chill effect, but it seems
that his first attempt is what's used as the standard method these days
and that's stupid.

Oh and an inch of rain is expected. Wind speed 25mph.
Everyone's commented in the rain, but no-one's mentioned that the
temperature is at least 15°C below the seasonal average.

You think the average July temperature in North Wales is 27°C? Umm. It
ain't. That's more like what you'd get in Greece, innit? You might get
occasional runs of days that reach that sort of temperature, but clouds,
rain, and wind are entirely normal for a Welsh summer, I promise,
especially when you're right next door to Snowdonia. All those
mountains don't half catch the rain.

'tis a green and pleasant land, is Wales, and that means it doesn't half
get the rain.
