I found a wasp nest in my front hedge :)

Wasps are cool. I captured one once and studied it, I've never killed
one since.

Along with many people, I have an irrational fear of wasps, and I hate
being pestered by them later in the year when they're on the lookout for
sugary foods. But they do a huge amount of good in the garden and are a
great disincentive for the local feral yoofs to hang around outside.

On the downside, the hedge needs trimming.....

I'd love to encourage bumble bees to nest in my garden. I came across a
bee 'burrow' once but sadly I didn't recognise what it was and destroyed
it. Has anyone tried 'bee boxes'? I'd give them a try if I thought they
were any use.

We had a couple of wasp nests last year, one in the attic, which was
horrendous and the other in the back garden.. Wasps tend to leave people
alone during the beginning of the year, as they are busy building the nest
for their queen, tis only in late summer when they sting people, and that
is down to the fact that the fruit they are drawn to is usually fermenting,
so you can say they are half cut and easily annoyed...:-) Another
interesting face from my local council....
By the way the Queen is usually a hell of a size..!!
