Came home tonight to find him lying in poop and pee, not able to get up.
I lifted him and he walked a few steps, but kept falling over again. The look on his face is like he's finally had enough. Poor old ***. He's just lying on his little matress now, farting.

I'm gonna miss him, but I've been trying to make myself come to terms with it for a while now. Despite that I'm still crying about him. I won't be able to afford to get him cremated and his ashes back, I will just have to let the vet dispose of his body. I wish they made dogs that last 70 years, then we could get buried together when we were both old and dead.

I'm glad you came back even if it is to share sad news.

All you can do now is make his last few hours as comfortable as possible. You will always have your memories of him.
