Why can't I have more than a month's supply at a time?
New Labour. They do so want to collect their prescription stealth tax.
(That's something the Welsh have got right, abolishing such an
iniquitous tax.) It used to be possible to get 3 months' or even 12
months' worth on one prescription but I think they thought it was wasteful.
As I have to take thyroxine, my prescriptions are free, so they don't
get any money out of me.
I will now investigate whether it's possible to fatally overdose on
thyroxine, as I presume that's why we're not allowed more than a
month's supply of anything.
Too much thyroxine is as bad for you as too little. My mother has to
take the stuff. Doctors are supposed to check thyroid function regularly
to ensure the dosage doesn't need adjusting, but she's just gone two
years without seeing a GP.

They can't check my thyroid function, they removed my thyroid over a
year ago. I'm still waiting for a proper reply to my letter of
complaint about not being told I had cancer or that I'm still being
treated for it.

Recent events in my family have shown that doctors are still very scared
of the c word.
