Well done Dawn :-) Although I'd bet that you've made many more achievements than you give yourself credit for. Others always see us as better individuals than we give ourselves credit for.
Thanks, Loz. I talked about that in counselling today. I don't seem to be able to accept anything I do as an achievement, hence making this post.
I don't like making phone calls. I particularly don't like complaining.
I HATE using the phone. Answering is not so bad, unless they say something I dont expect and my mind just goes blank with panic, but making them just freaks me out. If I had a pound for every time I've bottled it I'd be living in the Bahamas today... Complaining then ratchets the anxiety up 100 times more!
I find answering not so bad as I've got caller display - if I don't recognize the caller, I don't usually answer. If I make a phone call, I feel I'm invading someone's privacy.
But, having read over 500 posts from people who have successfully rung Virgin Media to negotiate a discount/new deal now that Sky channels are no longer included (a stance I support),
I agree...
The lovely Jen proceeded to work out that, as I currently have a separate phone, TV and broadband account, they need to be merged to make discounts work. She dutifully rang, has combined my accounts, resulting in saving £21.50 a month. On top of that, she was friendly.
Great news :-) Imho VirginMedia are a bunch of crooks. Losing a couple of sky channels doesn't really bother me that much but what I think is really disgusting is the way they treat existing loyal customers who been with them for years like yourself Dawn taking all their services. They've just brought out this new pricing structure 2 services for £20, 3 for £30 etc but that's for new customers. Do they inform existing customers taking all services of the savings that can be made. Of course not or not any I have heard of. Why should the loyal customers have to phone to get what is due! There has got to be thousands of customers who are paying over the odds without realising the savings they can make. I told my friend he saved £9, he told his parents they saved £30!!!
Rant over ;-)
It wouldn't occur to me that any company would inform me of the possibility of lower prices .... I was shocked to receive a letter from my electricity and gas supplier to say prices will be reduced. I'm sure it's a mistake :-)
It probably doesn't seem like much to many if not most of you, as it sounds as though you have no problems standing up for yourselves and complaining. But to phone, to complain, and to do something about my finances was a big deal for me. So, for once, I'm quite proud of me.
I think it's a huge achievement so give yourself a big pat on the back :-)))
Hugs
Thanks, Loz
