Well, I've been using the alpha thingy for just over 2 weeks now. It has
definitely helped my anxiety, I feel a lot less edgy. As far as the
anti-depression side of the treatment, I've kind of compromised its
ability by drinking very heavily the week before and the day after
getting it, then having a pint on the 18th too. As most of you will
know, even a small amount of alcohol really knocks me on my arse for the
best part of 3 weeks as far as my depression goes, my anxiety levels
usually increase exponentially too, but they have been a lot more
tolerable. The after effects of my drinking have started to ease off a
bit now, so I should hopefully start noticing an improvement in my mood
within the next couple of weeks of using the mind probe thing. I
mentioned the machine to my doc today when I was seeing about my cloudy
pee and he seemed pretty positive about me trying it (the machine, not
the cloudy pee) and to let him know if it helps. I've got the alpha stim
on just now as I type and I do notice a slight feeling of light
headedness which is not entirely unpleasant, like maybe having a wee
drink or perhaps a puff of a joint.

It sounds fairly encouraging so far, but hard to say because of the
contrainteractions.

I managed to fight off the spendthrift tendencies to avoid buying one when
you first mentioned it, but it's still on the shopping list.

I don't have any problems with alchol affecting my levels of depression or
anxiety, so might reap greater benefits while maintaining my existing
liquid diet.

I hope it doesn't cloud up my piss though.

How often do you drink alcohol?
How do you feel if you stop drinking alcohol for a month?
It might well be having an effect, perhaps less pronounced than the likes of
me. Most people I know who are non-depressives report feeling better
psychologically when they lay off the bevvy for a while.
