Santander are having problems, due to their acquisition of various other banks/societies.
I recommended their instant ISA at 3.2% to a lady friend, because it was convenient for her to reach the branch, to get one for myself.

The staff were confused about the detail of who they were and whether it was a passbook / card / branch and till account and sent me round to the Bradford and Bingley branch round the corner "because they're Santander now"!

They told me something slightly different, so I settled for a few %age points less elsewhere. :-)
