despicable.

From what I read ( though my press just may be biased :-) ) the majority of
the MPs didn't like his accent and would have preferred it if he had stuck a
plum in his mouth :-) His acquired nickname of *Gorbals Mick* IMHO ties in
perfectly with your suggestion.

He is also a teetotaller - I'll bet there haven't been many of those in
the
Speaker's chair in the past :-)
