Thereon is a link to a registry fix. I've been down that road, but
when I get to the appropriate part of the registry, I am unable to
identify the network adaptor. Before I give in and get someone in to
fix it, I wondered..............does anyone know if this DHCP
broadcast flag problem was fixed in Vista SP1? If so, I'm barking up
the wrong tree!
Thanks :)

I don't think it has judging from the chatter on the internet.
XP wifi isn't perfect but Microsoft just made it all less perfect with
Vista.
The problem is most wifi routers currently in use don't use the
broadcast flag so Vista refuses to accept DHCP.
As I understand it the fix is to break it in the registry thus:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic
es\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}

Value name: DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag
Value type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 0

The 0 switches off the broadcast flag. Of course a future software
update from Microsoft may well switch it back on.

Hi Ray :)
When I follow that path to {GUID}
The article says "In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that
corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network."
There are 3 entries there. All just letters and numbers and I have no idea
which is the network adaptor :(

Possibly those letters and numbers are the MAC addresses of the various
ports
It's pretty easy to find the MAC address of the wireless adaptor
somewhere in Windows. Someone will be along soon to tell you how. I
think it's something to do with ipconfig?
